Where do I find the supplier's invoice number?

When you register a purchase invoice, the field Purchase inv. no is mandatory. Here, you enter the invoice number the supplier has assigned to their own invoice. In other words, it isn't a number that Bookkeeping & Invoicing creates for you.

You'll usually find the invoice number at the top of the invoice, along with the invoice date and due date. Depending on the supplier, it might be labelled, for example, Fakturanummer, Faktura nr, Invoice no. or Invoice number.

Can I use the OCR number or the reference number instead?

No. OCR and the invoice number are two different pieces of information that may appear on the same invoice, but they serve different purposes. OCR is a payment reference used to match the invoice to the right payment, while the Purchase inv. no field is the supplier's own sequential number for that particular invoice. Enter each piece of information in its own field when you Register supplier invoice manually.

Can't find an invoice number at all?

If the document you've received doesn't have an invoice number, for example a receipt, you don't need to register it as a purchase invoice. Read more in How do I register a purchase when I do not have an invoice?.
