Matching rules

Tired of posting the same type of bank transactions over and over again? With matching rules, you can let Spiris do the heavy lifting for you. By setting up smart rules for your recurring bank transactions, you save valuable time and reduce the risk of manual errors.

The rules work for both bank transactions that come in via bank integration, and for bank statements that are imported via a CSV file or by copying and pasting the bank statement directly into the platform.

When importing a CSV file or copying and pasting, the matching occurs immediately. Bank transactions that come in via bank integration can take up to 20 minutes before matching occurs.

Good to know

  • Activation: For a rule to work, it must have the status Active.

  • Currency: Matching rules can't be used on transactions in foreign currency.

  • History: Rules don't affect bank transactions that already existed before the rule was created.

  • Invoices: We recommend not using matching rules on invoice payments, as the built-in automatic matching takes priority.

  • Receipts: Make sure to upload the receipt directly to Bookkeeping & Invoicing so that it's available before the bank transaction comes in. If there's no receipt in place before the matching rule runs, the receipt won't be linked to the bank transaction if the bank transaction has already been matched.
