Actions for fixed assets
Once you have registered your fixed assets under Accounting - Fixed assets, you can access the fixed assets and choose different actions based on what you want to do.
The different alternatives are:
When you depreciate a fixed asset, it is executed and entered as per the settings you configured under Settings - Company settings, the tab Accounting settings.
- Select Accounting - Fixed assets.
- Select the fixed asset requiring depreciation from the list.
- Select Actions - New depreciation entry.
- Select Post to ledger.
The function Adjust carrying amount is used if the fixed asset has received a lower or higher carrying amount. After changes, the program incorporates the newly entered amount and adjusts the size of the depreciations.
- Select Accounting - Fixed assets.
- Select the fixed asset requiring a change in carrying amount from the list.
- Select Actions - Adjust carrying amount.
- Enter the new carrying amount.
- Select Post to ledger.
Use this feature if you sold a fixed asset and want to register it in the fixed asset register. The accounting is updated and the fixed asset is hidden from the fixed assets list.
- Select Accounting - Fixed assets.
- Select the fixed asset that was sold from the list.
- Select Actions - Sell fixed asset.
- Enter the selling price excluding VAT.
- Select Post to ledger.
For the VAT report and results to be correct in conjunction with the sale of the fixed asset, you must supplement with a manual journal entry. Read more in the topic Post sale of fixed asset.
Use the feature Dispose of fixed asset when the fixed asset is expended and no longer used. The accounting is updated and the fixed asset is hidden from the fixed assets list.
- Select Accounting - Fixed assets.
- Select the fixed asset requiring disposal from the list.
- Select Actions - Dispose of fixed asset.
- Select Post to ledger.
There is no action available to undo a transaction directly from the fixed asset. If you need to undo a transaction, you do it via the fixed asset's history.
- Select Accounting - Fixed assets.
- Select the fixed asset for which you want to undo depreciation from the list.
- Select History.
- Click on the latest transaction so the line expands.
- Select Undo and a dialogue box opens.
- Select Yes.
